Real Weddings - Claire McMahon

Claire was wonderful enough to send us pictures of her November 11th wedding! She looks fantastic and so happy in her lovely Claire Pettibone Larissa gown, as do her ladies in their AWESOME bridesmaid dresses. For h
er bridesmaids, Claire chose lovely, jersey "convertible" bridesmaid dresses...while we don't know where she got them, we have heard of these before!Best wishes!

Juliana & Christos are Married!
When my mom and business partner, Juliana, met Christos and told us all about him, we couldn't wait to meet him! I remember Kori and I were practically pushed up against the glass of Promise at our old location on Wisconsin Avenue trying to catch a glimpse of him as he picked my mom up across the street at the gas station where she was dropping her car off to get serviced. Even at that distance and in the oh-so-NOT-romantic setting of the Texaco, they looked perfect together. I remember thinking "they are
gonna get married!" I was so glad my mom had at last found someone as special, generous, and wonderful as she is.
Fast forward a year and to everyone's thrill, they got engaged (in Spain). Where did my mom get her dress, you ask? Promise, silly! With the help of Corina and Patti at L'ezu Atelier, we designed my mom's ideal gown - elegant, romantic, and, as she likes to say "appropriate."
Their wedding was at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota, Florida, on January 1st. Sarasota was WONDERFUL. If you haven't been, go! The Ritz, true to form, did a spectacular job (they took care of the flowers, music, and food) and Sanaa Photo documented every moment! M
y mom's small but truly very special wedding went off without a hitch. Christos's mom, brother, sister-in-law, niece, and nephew flew in from Greece, and our extended family (including my grandmother) came in from Philadelphia...not to mention my older sister (Alexis) and her family (two kids under 3!) from Los Angeles, my younger sister (Hilary) from Raleigh, and last, but certainly not least, our new sister, Persephone and her sweetie Eddie all the way from...George Mason!
The ceremony was really beautiful, and it was really moving to see my mom so happy and in love!
As their first dance, my mom and Christos danced the tango! My mom's gown had this sexy slit for all her moves, and the chiffon ruffles at her hem looked lovely as she dance
d (and yes, she DID wear those serious shoes all night). The four of us daughters were directed to choose dresses in jewel tones for the wedding - since there were no bridesmaids, Mom and Christos wanted us to stand out!
We all had an incredible time, not only at the rehearsal dinner on New Year's Eve (at Michael's on East), but every day we got to spend together as a family before and after their wedding day! With our family spread out so far apart, it was so great to spend so much time together. Some of the images are my very amateur ones, but I am sure you can tell the difference between my pictures and Sanaa's!

Promise Newlywed Spotlight - Katie & Michael!
Katie and Michael were married November 22 at the Belvedere Hotel in Baltimore!
Katie came to Promise already in love with Claire Pettibone gowns...and when she tried on the Demetra gown, it was a perfect match! The Belevedere Hotel, in Katie's words, "has an old world charm" and we couldn't describe
it any better! Both the ceremony and reception were held there, and everything had such a great (but subtle) vintage vibe!
Katie looked lovely and her new husband looks so dash
ing... they both look as though they are on cloud nine! One of our favorite pictures is of their first dance...so romantic! Their photographer, Aaron
Haslinger of Primary Studios, did a fantastic job capturing every moment, and the DJ from Absolute Entertainment kept everyone dancing! Katie also raved about her string quartet, Sonar, and from the pictures it looks like they had a great time, too!

The best part is that Katie says her bouquet got caught in the chandelier when she tossed it!

Best Wishes!

Promise Newlywed Spotlight - Sarah & Greg!

Sarah and Greg were married May 17th at the Marriott Aspen Wye River in Queenstown, MD!
We loved seeing Sarah & Greg's pictures - all we have to say is...what a spectacular day! Sarah told us that she was totally lucky that the weather was so cooperative...it was freezing and raining the day before and after! When Sarah came to Promise, she told us that she had been searching for an elegant, simple gown with just the right amount of drama. With its clean silhouette and stunning sash, Sarah's gown was perfect for her!
Sarah's wedding and reception were both at the Marriott Aspen Wye River on a perfect May day. We love how gracious the setting was - as we looked through the pictures, we felt like Sarah and Greg were entertaining in their garden at home! Their flowers, by Amarylis, added to that feeling, appearing as though they had been gathered that day on the grounds. We are sure Sarah and Greg's planners, Rita and Marci Etman at Creative Parties, played no small part in making s
ure their wedding was as natural and as easy as it seemed!
Sarah looked so radiant (Lorna Basse, her make up artist did a wonderful job highlighting how lovely she was), and Greg was so handsome! The whole event looked right out of an editorial.
Sarah and Greg's ceremony combined Quaker and Jewish traditions under a Chuppah, and was followed by a fabulous reception outdoors under an amazing tent. Their cake, by Charm City Cakes, was totally dazzling - we loved the asymmetrical layers and delicate details.
Finally, with a lot of help from the band, Escapade, it looked like everyone had a blast on the dance floor, especially Sarah and Gre
g! They partied like rock stars. Sarah and Greg's photographer, Richard Greenhouse, did an exceptional job capturing every moment.
Best Wishes!

Promise Newlywed Spotlight - Sarah & Vinnie!

Sarah and Vinnie were married July 5th in Southbury, Connecticut!
Vinnie is my husband Andrew's cousin (thats' right - his Cousin Vinnie!).
I was so honored when Sarah and her girlfriends came to Promise first! Even though we are family, I know choosing a wedding gown is a big decision, and I wanted her to find the perfect one. Right off the bat, she chose her Carmela Sutera gown. Its luxurious silk duchess satin looks like butter, and the crisp and modern shape and detailing made it perfect for her and for her wedding in Connecticut. That same day, Sarah and her bridesmaids chose their Coren Moore dresses in classic and preppy lime green shantung with navy blue sashes.
Sarah and Vinnie have a joyful and loving relationship - it was so moving to see that energy evidenced in almost every image! Her photographer, Denise Creiger did an exceptional job. Plus we had SUCH a blast at the wedding! Sarah (along with her bridesmaids) got ready at her aunt's home, and I was thrilled to be there to help her and her ladies get ready. They all looked so wonderful - and Sarah looked as though she was going to levitate she was so excited!
Her ceremony was at charming Middlebury Congregational, on a random side note,
as we pulled up I realized I had been there before! Years earlier, my friend Cameron from college had been married in the same church.

After the ceremony we were off to Highfield Club for the reception. It was a lovely club - and the reception was outdoors
underneath a tent. It was gorgeous! We had a yummy buffet dinner catered by Bay Leaf Gourmet, and the cake by Sugar Belle Cakes was to die for.
The centerpieces (by Woodbury Florist) looked as though they had been picked straight from the gardens, and they were thoughtfully arranged on each table - each one looked different and uniquely beautiful.

The rest of the wedding was so fun (scroll
down for more pictures). We danced all night and, after Sarah and Vinnie made their getaway, we continued the party at the hotel bar - there was karaoke!
We had so much fun - it was wonderful to be a part of
Sarah & Vinnie's wedding day!
Best Wishes!
-Jessica, Tania, Kori, Juliana, Lana, and Andrew!
